FSU QB injury likely means Francois will be opening day starter vs. Ole Miss

The Florida State QB picture seems to have cleared up some Saturday when Jimbo Fisher announced that Sean Maguire, who finished last season as the 'Noles' starting quarterback, is expected to be out four weeks because he needs a screw inserted into his fractured right foot. The 'Noles likely will have redshirt freshman Deondre Francois as the starter when they open against Ole Miss on Sept. 5 in Orlando.

Many observers already figured the 6-2, 205-pound Francois, ranked by some recruiting services as the nation’s No. 1 dual-threat QB in the 2015 signing class, would emerge as the 'Noles' starting QB this fall. Word is, Francois impressed many inside the program with his skill set. He also made the 2015 ACC Academic Honor Roll.

The 6-3, 230-pound Maguire, a redshirt senior, threw for 1,520 yards with 11 touchdowns and six interceptions last year, completing 59.3 percent of his passes. The 'Noles play Charleston Southern in Week Two before traveling to Louisville in Week Three.
