Preview:
Initially, this game had some muster.
The Virginia Tech Hokies needed a win on Saturday against Virginia to clinch the Coastal Division Title. That, of course, was assuming that heavily-favored North Carolina would win a home game against NC State on Friday afternoon.
More from Fighting Gobbler
The Tar Heels didn’t, and because of it, the Hokies have already clinched the ACC Coastal Division. Virginia Tech will be returning to the ACC Championship next Saturday night in Orlando to face the Clemson Tigers.
Clemson, of course, was the same team the Hokies lost to in their last appearance in the ACC Championship in the 2011 season. The teams have not met since.
The Hokies will be playing simply for bragging rights on Saturday against the Virginia Cavaliers, a team who they have not lost to since 2003. For frame of reference, I am in a second year of a full-time job and the last time Virginia beat the Hokies, I was in the 5th grade.
The task should be no different on Saturday than it has in many of the of the other games this season. Control the line of scrimmage, and bring it on every snap.
Prediction
Virginia Tech 31 Virginia 14
