Georgia lands commitment from TE Garrett Walston

The Georgia Bulldogs landed somewhat of a surprise commitment from Wilmington, North Carolina tight end Garrett Walston Tuesday. Walston has suspected to be a heavy North Carolina lean leading up to his decision.

Walston spoke to 247 Sports following his announcement.

"I just picked UGA," Walston said. "This past weekend, the visit to Georgia just blew me away. They rolled out the red carpet for us and we all felt comfortable with it. I can't wait to be a part of the Georgia football family."

Soon after discovering Walston, the Bulldogs made him their top target at the tight end position.

"They feel like I am one of the top tight ends in the country," Walston continued. "They did not pressure me or anything, which I really like, they just said they hope I pick Georgia and if it is, they will be super-excited."

Walston had been set to announce his decision last month, but decided to take another trip to Athens before making a final decision.

"The entire coaching staff at Georgia is great," Walston said. "I hung out with some players, and all of them seem cool. Coach Richt and Coach Lilly are just awesome."

With the addition of the North Carolina tight end, Georgia now has 11 pledges toward their 2016 recruiting class that is expected contend for the top ranking in the nation.
