Georgia Southern runs past South Alabama, 52-0 (Nov 18, 2017)

STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) Wesley Fields and L.A. Ramsby each scored two touchdowns and Georgia Southern got its first win of the year, blasting South Alabama 52-0 Saturday to hand the Jaguars their first-ever shutout in the program's 101-game history.

Ramsby's two scores occurred over the first three drives for Georgia Southern (1-9, 1-5 Sun Belt). The Eagles had the ball for 11 minutes of the first quarter as they built a 21-0 lead. Georgia Southern entered the game averaging just five points per game in the first quarter. The Eagles amassed 225 total yards in the quarter to 31 for South Alabama (4-7, 3-4).

Quarterback Shai Werts ran 15 times for 113 yards and a touchdown and threw for 107 yards and a score while Kado Brown completed all four of his passes for 120 yards and a touchdown. The Eagles had 356 yards rushing and outgained the Jaguars 583-195 in total yards.

Cole Garvin threw for 102 yards and, in relief, Dallas Davis was 8-of-9 passing for 64 yards.
