Georgia standouts Kelee Ringo, Darnell Washington to enter NFL Draft
Less than a week after helping lead Georgia to its second consecutive national title, cornerback Kelee Ringo and tight end Darnell Washington announced their intentions to enter the 2023 NFL Draft.
Ringo was a two-year starter for the Bulldogs, finishing his career with 76 tackles, four interceptions and a forced fumble. His memorable 79-yard interception return for a score helped seal the Bulldogs' 33-18 victory over Alabama in last year's national title game.
Ringo announced his decision to head to the NFL on his Instagram account Thursday.
"To my Bulldogs who have been between the hedges with me both past and present, we have won in many areas, but on the field we've earned the title of national champions — two times," Ringo wrote. "We have helped build something special and I'm grateful to have had you as a teammate."
Washington is a massive tight end, standing at 6-foot-7, 270 pounds. In three seasons at Georgia, he hauled in 45 total catches for 774 yards and three scores.
"To DAWG nation: Thank you for the consistent support. You are the best in the world and it was an honor to play in front of you," Washington wrote on social media. "My time in Athens has come to an end as I work to pursue my dreams in the NFL."
The NFL Draft is set to take place April 27-29 in Kansas City.
