Grambling State eyes SWAC repeat in 2017

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 7:28 p.m. ET

(STATS) - Grambling State will both open and close its regular season in New Orleans with an eye toward repeating as the SWAC champion.

The Tigers will kick off their 11-game schedule with a matchup at Tulane on Sept. 2. Coach Broderick Fobbs' team will face archrival Southern in the Bayou Classic on Nov. 25 at the Mercedes Superdome.

Last year, Grambling went 11-1, winning the SWAC championship game before going on to capture the second annual Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl against MEAC champ North Carolina Central.
