Hargreaves talks about lessons learned from former DB coach now at Auburn
Once Will Muschamp landed at Auburn and Jim McElwain was hired at Florida, the two schools immediately went to battle over defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson. The coach known as T-Rob not only knows how to coach up elite level secondaries but he's one of the nation's most regarded recruiters.
Auburn eventually won the fight for T-Rob, as he followed his former boss to The Plains. Despite Robinson no longer roaming the Gators' sideline, All-American corner Vernon Hargreaves still has much love for his former position coach.
"T-Rob, he's excellent," Hargreaves said to AL.com. "He's a great coach. He's into your lives. He cares about you. He cares about your doing off the field and I think that's what makes him such a good coach."
It seems as much as the Gator corner learned from his coach on the field, his off the field advice made for even more valuable life lessons.
"The best lessons I learned from him was how to treat people off the field," Hargreaves said. "Just being in college and understanding, he kind of laid it out for me how college was going to be. That's all I could ask for from him and he taught me that you need to treat people with respect and don't burn any bridges."
Auburn appears to have landed a homerun hire in T-Rob and someone that has the ability to balance out the intense nation of their ferocious new defensive coordinator.
"He always had jokes," Hargreaves said. "He always kept everybody laughing. No matter what, no matter how hard it was, no matter how hot it was, you can go to T-Rob and you're going to get a laugh."
