Hayes' TD pass lifts Jackson State over Pine Bluff 30-27

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) — Jarrad Hayes' 72-yard TD pass to Warren Newman with 4:49 left in the fourth quarter lifted Jackson State to a 30-27 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday.

It was the fifth lead change of the second half and the Tigers (2-2, 1-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference) stopped Pine Bluff on the ensuing possession with a four-and-out at the Jackson State 34 with 59 seconds left in the game.

Jackson State took its first lead of the game at 16-14 on Keshawn Harper's 60-yard TD run with 3:18 left in the third quarter.

JeKevin Carter's 60-yard interception return gave the Golden Lions (1-5, 0-2) the lead at 20-16 and Pine Bluff retook the lead again at 27-23 on a 33-yard pass from Skyler Perry to Ralph Tyrin.

Harper had 93 yards on six carries for the Tigers.

Taeyler Porter ran 31 times for 167 yards and a touchdown for Pine Bluff.
