Hefty ex-Kentucky QB Lorenzen lets Jets know he's available
With New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith expected to miss 6-10 weeks with a broken jaw after getting punched during a training camp altercation Tuesday, the team is in the market for a temporary replacement.
And former Kentucky quarterback Jared Lorenzen, aka "The Round Mound of Touchdown," thinks he might be just the guy for the job. Lorenzen, who last played in the NFL for the New York Giants in 2007 and most recently played competitively two seasons ago in the Continental Indoor Football League, posted the following on Twitter:
Umm @nyjets just saying I already look great in green. #ComingbacktoNYC #ThrowboyTees pic.twitter.com/upoPxJx3NU

Lorenzen racked up 10,354 yards and 90 total touchdowns while at Kentucky from 2000-03. He is now selling office technology equipment and resides in Lexington, according to Saturday Down South.
But if the Jets are looking for a 34-year-old who was last listed at 320 pounds and has been out of the NFL for eight years, it sounds like he'd be more than willing to suit back up.
