WHO: Bryce Love
YEAR/POSITION/SCHOOL: Junior RB, Stanford
BIO: Native of Wake Forest, North Carolina, Love started his career as 2015 Heisman runner-up Christian McCaffrey's backup. He took over the starting role this season and has the Cardinal ranked 15th after losing the Pac-12 title game to Southern California.
KEY STATS: Love leads all Power 5 players with 164.4 yards rushing per game. He's averaging 8.3 yards per carry, has 17 touchdowns and set the FBS record with 12 runs of at least 50 yards this season.
THE SKINNY: Love emerged as a star right from the start this season, rushing for 564 yards in back-to-back wins over UCLA and Arizona State at the end of September. With his breathtaking speed, Love was a threat to score nearly every time he touched the ball. He also had the power to break tackles and ranks among the leaders in yards after contact. This marks the fifth time in nine seasons that Stanford has had a Heisman finalist. Toby Gerhart (2009), Andrew Luck (2010, `11) and McCaffrey (2015) all finished second.
