The No. 12 Michigan State Spartans head to South Bend to face No. 18 Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday night at Notre Dame Stadium.

The Fighting Irish rebounded with a 39–10 win over Nevada after dropping their season opener to Texas. Head coach Brian Kelly decided to start DeShone Kizer at quarterback after his plan to rotate with Malik Zaire did not go according to plan against the Longhorns. Kizer threw for two touchdowns and ran for another against the Wolf Pack. Josh Adams rushed for 106 yards. The Irish are expected to get wide receiver Tori Hunter Jr. back for the game after he sustained a hard hit against Texas.

The defending Big Ten champions enter with just one game under their belt for the season as they downed Furman 28–13 on Sept. 3. The Spartans led early in the fourth quarter, but Furman kept it close. Quarterback Tyler O'Connor threw for 190 yards and three touchdowns. Look for him to seek out fellow fifth-year senior Monty Madaris, who finished the season opener with five passes and 85 yards.
