The Red Raiders are coming off their first win of the season, as they pulled away for a 69–17 victory at home against Stephen F. Austin. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes was the star of the game, throwing for four touchdowns and running for two more.
The Sun Devils are also undefeated after they opened their season with a 44–13 win over FCS opponent Northern Arizona. The team was led by quarterback Manny Wilkins, who passed for 180 yards, ran for for 89 yards and scored a touchdown in his first start.
