SALINE, Mich. (AP) Hundreds of people, including University of Michigan football players, attended a memorial service for the 5-year-old grandson of former coach Lloyd Carr.

The family asked the public to wear orange, Chad Carr's favorite color. The service was held Sunday at Saline High School, six days after Chad's death from an incurable brain cancer.

Some Michigan players served as ushers. Linebacker Joe Bolden tells The Detroit News (http://detne.ws/1SqKeHX ) it's ''amazing'' how people can come together in tragic situations. Michigan State and Ohio State players wore helmet decals honoring Chad when they played each other on Nov. 21.

Wolverines players wrote ''(hash)ChadTough'' on their helmets.
