LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska junior quarterback Ryker Fyfe will make the first start of his career at Purdue on Saturday in place of Tommy Armstrong Jr., who has not practiced this week because of an injured right foot.
Coach Mike Riley made the announcement after Thursday's practice. Fyfe, a former walk-on from Grand Island, has appeared in nine games over three seasons. He played three series late in last month's 48-9 win over South Alabama in his only appearance this season.
Armstrong has started 29 games since 2013 and has passed for more than 2,000 yards and 16 touchdowns this season for the Cornhuskers (3-5, 1-3 Big Ten). He also has run for four scores.
