Illinois Football: Illini Fans Think 3-4 Wins This Season
The Illinois football team has fallen to 1-2 on the season and their last two performances haven’t been good.
This weak play has some Illinois Fighting Illini fans down in the dumps about their team or it could potentially be a curbing of their expectations.
I even had high expectations for this season because it was essentially the same program that we had last season and they finished 5-7.
So, in turn, I expected at least that record and possibly better. I was hoping for a bowl game appearance.
Honestly, I still think they can make a bowl game. Illinois has nine games left and they just have to win five of them to become bowl eligible.

Last night I sent out a poll to see where Illinois fans thought the team would finish this season.
The results came back with 54-percent thinking they will finish with 3-4 wins this season. This is understandable considering what we have seen the last two games.
Now let’s figure out where the two or three wins are that most Illinois fans think will happen.
Well, I can probably throw out the ranked opponents. This group consists of No. 20 Nebraska, No. 4 Michigan, No. 8 Michigan State, and No. 11 Wisconsin.
That leaves Purdue, Rutgers, Minnesota, Iowa, and Northwestern as the only possible options for a win or two.
Out of these five teams, I have to assume most fans think Illinois will beat Purdue when they come to town on October 8.
That leaves two more possible victories and I will assume they will be at home against Minnesota and on the road against Rutgers.
This will get Illinois to four wins this season, which is the high end of the poll.
Do I agree with this assessment? No, because I think Illinois has a legit shot at beating Purdue, Rutgers, Minnesota, and Northwestern.
I also think they could beat Nebraska, purely based on they beat them last season. I think they can also beat Iowa as well because they are down this season.
But, Illini Nation has spoken and we are looking at three or four wins this season.
