Indiana football surprises eight walk-ons with scholarships (VIDEO)
Indiana director of athletics Fred Glass apologized to coach Kevin Wilson for interrupting the Hoosiers football practice last week, but by the end there was no need to say sorry for anything.
That's because his task was to tell eight walk-ons they were being put on scholarship, news that sent the entire team into a celebration.
The new scholarship players are Ben Bach, Eric Toth, Griffin Oakes, Anthony Corsaro, Michael Cooper, Mitchell Paige, Damon Graham and Ricky Brookins.
Of that group, Bach has been involved in a competition for playing time in the secondary, Oakes is coming off a season as the Hoosiers' No. 1 kicker and Toth is the team's punter.
Graham and Paige are receivers, Brookins has been in the mix at running back after an impressive spring game, and Carsaro and Cooper were listed as the top two tight ends on the depth chart published at the start of preseason practice.
