Indiana gives football coach 6-year contract extension
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) Indiana coach Kevin Wilson signed a new six-year contract worth $15.3 million, athletic director Fred Glass announced Monday.
Wilson had two years left on the deal he originally signed following the 2010 season.
Last season, the Hoosiers earned their first bowl bid in eight years and their second in 22. Indiana lost to Duke in overtime in the Pinstripe Bowl.
Under Wilson, the Hoosiers have shown steady progress and have won the Old Oaken Bucket, the trophy awarded to the winner of the Purdue-Indiana rivalry, three straight times. They hadn't done that since the 1940s.
Three Indiana players also have declared early for the NFL draft over the last two seasons.
Glass said Wilson and Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh are the only Big Ten coaches with deals that long.
