Injured Leonard Fournette shoves Florida coach in scuffle, decides to suit up

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Amid reports surfacing that LSU star tailback Leonard Fournette would not play on Saturday against Florida, a pregame scuffle between the two teams appears to have sparked a change of plans.

Fournette has been dealing with an ankle injury and was apparently set to sit out before the two sides engaged in a heated pregame shoving match. Video of the incident shows Fournette, wearing warmups, shoving a Florida assistant coach. ESPN identified the coach as defensive backs coach Torrian Gray.

After the incident, Fournette reportedly asked head coach Ed Orgeron if he could dress for the game, which he obliged.

Florida can clinch the SEC East with a win on Saturday.
