Injury report for the Gamecocks
News on the injury front is generally positive for Steve Spurrier and the South Carolina Gamecocks.
According to Josh Kendall of TheState.com, the quartet of running back Brandon Wilds, receivers Deebo Samuel and Terry Googer and signal-caller Connor Mitch all participated in practice on Tuesday.
Getting Samuel and Googer healthy is huge for a receiver corps lacking big-time in depth. Things got paper-thin to the point South Carolina moved Jamari Smith over from corner to receiver this week. Although the Gamecocks possess good depth in the backfield with the likes of David Williams and Shon Carson, Wilds is the most well-rounded back of the three, and is the biggest. The quality depth at running back should enable the Gamecocks to ease Wilds back into action.
Defensive lineman Dante Sawyer and defensive back Chris Lammons did not practice on Tuesday. Lammons was bothered with a rib problem, and Sawyer is battling a hamstring injury.
With the health of its team relatively good, South Carolina looks to win its first SEC game of the year versus Kentucky this upcoming Saturday.
