Iowa center admits being jealous of MSU lineman's TD run

One of the lasting images of Michigan State's win over Penn State last weekend came toward the end of the game.

Center Jack Allen lined up in the backfield, took a handoff and scored a touchdown from nine yards out, stiff-arming a Penn State defender along the way.

Unsurprisingly, his counterpart in this week's Big Ten championship game, Iowa center Austin Blythe, took notice.

“I was definitely a little jealous,” he told reporters on a conference call Monday.

After saying he lobbied the Iowa coaching staff for a similar play to be installed in the Hawkeyes offense, he sounded resigned to the fact that won't happen.

"It is what it is, just go out there and do what I can and I’ll share my glory with the running backs," Blythe said.

As for Allen, he said he was just happy represent his position group in a unique way.

“It just keeps everything light and keeps everybody happy," Allen said. "At the same time, it gives a lot of fat guys like myself around college football some hope.”
