Is Les Miles Headed To Baylor?

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

After nearly being fired at the end of the 2015 season and seeing the Tigers getting off to a very underwhelming start to the 2016 campaign, LSU decided to officially let go of long-time head coach Les Miles in September. The move was heavily scrutinized, but to this point, it has proven to be the correct call as the program has been revitalized in the weeks since.

As the 2016 college football season begins to come to a close, the coaching carousel is starting to heat up. Big head coaching names are being linked to positions all across the country, and as arguably the top guy on the market, Les Miles is no exception. Whether it’s Purdue, Notre Dame, or others, Miles has seen his name in quite a few rumors.

Well, we can go ahead and add another school to the list, as CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd reports the former LSU coach is a serious candidate for the head coaching job at Baylor. Dodd says that Miles is one of a few names on the Bears’ shortlist.

“While the name of the former LSU coach has been attached to the opening in the past, multiple sources have indicated to CBS Sports that Miles is indeed in the mix,” Dodd said.

Miles has already committed to coaching again, and with his career success, he will be in the running for many of these big openings. While Dodd says the former LSU coach is not necessarily the frontrunner for the job, it certainly would not shock anyone if the Bears hired a high-profile guy like Miles.
