Is receiver Steven Mitchell USC's next star?
USC sophomore receiver Steven Mitchell Jr. has looked like a force to be reckoned with on offense through four games.
While JuJu Smith-Schuster has carried the bulk of the offense for USC, leading the Trojans with 27 receptions, Mitchell is the next most favorable target. He has 13 receptions for 126 yards, highlighted by 4 touchdowns. Mitchell was a backup who made just two starts as a freshman.
"Mitchell has certainly benefited from the attention that the other, more well-known receivers warrant from defensive backs, making the most out of his opportunities," writes SB Nation's Brandon Austin. "He has proven that he is capable of making plays that turn into points."
If Mitchell can keep at this impressive pace and stay healthy, Austin predicts Mitchell might be USC's next great slot receiver.
