Is the trip to Colorado a 'trap game' for the Trojans?
USC has already experienced one "trap game" this season. They lost. It was back on Oct. 8 to the Huskies in Los Angeles. That 17-12 loss to Washington was the last game former head coach Steve Sarkisian coached at the school.
Now led by Clay Helton, the Trojans will again face another potential "trap game". The Trojans have three games remaining on the regular season schedule: at Colorado, at Oregon, vs. UCLA.
Oregon and UCLA are both big time, nationally televised games. It would be easy to overlook lowly Colorado. However, the Trojans have seen the Buffaloes scare quite a few teams this season. As Helton assesses, this Colorado team is not to be overlooked.
“This is a different Colorado team than we’ve faced over the last couple of years,” Helton said this week, per ESPN. “I just look at them and I know the wins aren’t coming to them like they would like. But you look at the way they’re competing against some really quality teams right now, and they seem like they’re in every game.”
After seeing Colorado almost take out UCLA at the Rose Bowl, Helton is wise to get his team playing at a championship level.
“This is somebody we’d better take a championship attitude into their place, or like any game in the Pac-12 you’ll get beat if you don’t bring your ‘A’ game,” Helton warned.
Colorado and USC take the field in Boulder on Friday night.
