Is Wisconsin the Big Ten's running back U?
Next week in the NFL Draft, former Badgers superstar Melvin Gordon figures to be a first round selection. Not even counting him yet though, are the Badgers currently the Big Ten’s “running back U?”
Tom Dienhart of the Big Ten Network took a look into the numbers and it may surprise you that Wisconsin and Ohio State are tied for the conference lead with 5 first round selections since 2005. According to the BTN writer, here are the full list of Wisconsin and Ohio State running backs drafted in the last ten years:
The Buckeyes have produced Maurice Clarett (2005, Broncos); Antonio Pittman (2007, Saints); Wells; Dan Herron (2012, Bengals); Carlos Hyde (2014, 49ers). The Badgers have seen Anthony Davis (2005, Colts); Brian Calhoun (2006, Lions); Bradie Ewing (2012, Falcons); Montee Ball (2013, Broncos); James White (2014, Patriots).
What do you guys think? Are the Buckeyes or Badgers the true “running back U?”
