It's Brissett's ball and you can't have it
He may not be in the national spotlight as much as other ACC star quarterbacks such as Clemson’s Deshaun Watson or Florida State’s Everett Golson, but with the way N.C. State slinger Jacoby Brissett is playing that won’t last very long.
Brissett, who transferred from Florida to N.C. State two years ago, has been magnificent with the Wolfpack and has emerged as one of the nation’s most accurate passers.
So far this season Brissett has guided N.C. State to a perfect 4-0 record and heads into the Wolfpack’s ACC opener with Louisville (1-3, 0-1) having not thrown an interception in his last 189 pass attempts, the second-longest streak of any active player in the country behind Mississippi State’s Dak Prescott (192 attempts).
During that time, which spans 30 quarters of action, Brissett’s has thrown 11 touchdown passes. The streak dates back to Nov. 8, 2014, when he threw an interception against Georgia Tech.
Brissett’s 189 attempts without being intercepted is the seventh-longest streak in ACC history. Former N.C. State star QB Russell Wilson has the longest streak in the conference as he went 379 attempts before a defender got his hands on the ball.
On the season, Brissett ranks fourth in the ACC with 809 passing yards, while his six TD passes ranks third.
Brissett has provided a big boost to the Wolfpack, who went winless in the ACC before he became the starting quarterback. In 2014, N.C. State improved to an eight-win team, and this year it has picked up four wins in its first four attempts.
