It's gut-check time for Miles and the Tigers

LSU is in a bit of precarious position.

After winning its first eight games, Les Miles' squad has dropped two-straight against SEC West foes Alabama and Arkansas. Its chance at winning the division is gone, and there's a very slim possibility it can feature as one of the four teams in the College Football Playoff.

Miles realizes the sense of urgency the Tigers must have during this last portion of the season. Facing an explosive Ole Miss team on the road this weekend, the thought of a three-game losing streak is staring the team squarely in the face.

"We know what to work on," said Miles. "It's a time where as a coach, you just bury your head and you go to work and you coach like there's no tomorrow and it's time to step up."

Since 2005, LSU is the only SEC team without a three-game losing streak. It also leads the conference in the least amount of two-game slides.

While hyperbole is a virtual staple within most press conferences, Miles didn't sugarcoat the current status of this team.

"I think our guys understand. They understand crisis."

To avoid any more of a "crisis," the Tigers will try and end their current two-game losing streak against a talented opponent on the road.
