J.W. Walsh proves he can spread the field as passer in Bedlam defeat

Oklahoma State, in essence, has two effective quarterbacks. Mason Rudolph is more of a prototypical pocket passer, while J.W. Walsh is the dual-threat, jack-of-all-trades type quarterback.

Or at least that's what everyone thought going into Bedlam. Walsh was forced to run the spread offense in full due to Rudolph's lack of health, and though the Cowboys were overmatched by a superior Oklahoma team, Walsh held his own.

Before the game, Rudolph and Walsh both warmed up in an effort to keep the Sooners guessing. But OSU knew who would be starting all along.

“Yeah, we knew just based off the way the reps went all week,” said Walsh, who made his first start Saturday since Sept. 6, 2014, against Missouri State. “We were aware of that.”

Despite a blowout loss, Walsh aired out the rock for 325 yards on Saturday.
