Jacksonville St scores twice in 22 seconds, tops Murray St (Nov 04, 2017)

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) Bryant Horn threw for three touchdowns, Jacksonville State set a program record with minus-3 yards rushing allowed, and the Gamecocks beat Murray State 59-23 on Saturday.

After Murray State pulled within 38-23, JMU scored 14 points - on short runs by Roc Thomas and Tramel Terry - in 22 seconds after Randy Robinson recovered a Murray State fumble.

Horn opened the scoring with a 9-yard run on Jacksonville State's first offensive drive of the game. Horn's interception on JSU's next possession was returned 17 yards by D'Montre Wade and Jordon Gandy caught a 22-yard touchdown pass to tie it. The Racers took a 13-7 lead after another Horn turnover as Sean Rodriguez returned a fumble for a 47-yard touchdown.

Horn got hot in the second quarter, throwing three touchdown passes for a 28-13 lead. Terry's over-the-shoulder grab went for 45 yards, Jamari Hester catch over the middle was for 15 yards and Hester's 8-yarder came with eight seconds left before halftime.

Horn threw for 137 yards, and had 71 yards rushing on 12 carries for Jacksonville State (8-1, 6-0 Ohio Valley Conference). Thomas had 138 yards on the ground and two touchdowns.

Shuler Bentley was 12-of-38 passing for 117 yards and two touchdowns for Murray State (2-7, 1-4).
