Jacksonville State romps past Southeast Missouri 56-28
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) Eli Jenkins passed for 194 yards and three touchdowns and Troymaine Pope ran for 137 yards and two scores as Jacksonville State romped past Southeast Missouri 56-28 to clinch the Ohio Valley Conference championship on Saturday.
Christian LeMay rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns on six carries and Josh Barge grabbed seven passes for 108 yards and two scores for Jacksonville State (9-1, 7-0), which has now won 16 straight conference games over two seasons. Barge now hold the school's single-season record of 68 catches and career mark of 182, eclipsing Ronald Bonner's mark of 62 set in 1997 and Joey Hamilton's 178 career catches (1996-99).
The Gamecocks, who were ahead 21-7 at the half, outscored Southeast Missouri 21-7 in the third period. Jacksonville State had 617 total yards compared to 332 for the Redhawks (4-6, 3-3).
Dante Vandeven thew for 239 yards and one touchdown for Southeast Missouri.
