Jim Mora spins P. Diddy incident in UCLA's favor

Published Aug. 4, 2015 3:55 p.m. ET

Leave it to Jim Mora to put a positive spin on last month's incident when P. Diddy was arrested for assaulting a UCLA strength and conditioning coach.

Mora was on "The Dan Patrick Show" and naturally Patrick asked Mora about the incident that occurred on campus that garnered national headlines, from TMZ to the New York Post. Larry Brown Sports transcribed the segment.

"There's going to be distractions in L.A. There's gonna be stuff that happens in L.A.," Mora said. "I've got P. Diddy's son, I've got Snoop's son. On campus there's always celebrities all over. There's cameras, sometimes you walk out of practice, TMZ's there. It's just the way that is when you're at UCLA.

"I think it's good for our kids because it teaches them to deal with distractions. We're playing at the Rose Bowl in front of 85,000 people against a great team like USC, you better be able to assume focus. So I think all these things teach them how to eliminate the noise and focus in on what they have to focus in on."

That's one way to look at things.
