Purdue received its first verbal commitment for the 2016 class on Thursday when cornerback Josh Hayes from Pike High School in Indianapolis tweeted that he will be attending the school:

According to Hammer and Rails the Boilermakers are getting a pretty good prospect:

"Hayes is a 3-star prospect according to all of the top recruiting sites and is listed as the 12th best player in the state for 2016 by 247sports.  The coaching staff extended an offer to the 5'-11", 180 lb. cornerback in October and he had an unofficial visit to West Lafayette in November.  Purdue was the only school to offer, but other schools from the B1G and the MAC were showing interest in this very early commit."

According to Hayes, he runs a 4.4 forty-yard dash so Purdue could be getting a nice sleeper.
