Josh Rosen is only freshman named semifinalist for Davey O'Brien Award

Published Nov. 4, 2015 1:25 p.m. ET

The Davey O'Brien Award is given to the nation's top college football quarterback; no true freshman has ever won the award.

Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel and Florida State's Jameis Winston both won the award as redshirt freshmen. According to Daily News, Rosen hasn't thrown an interception since October 15 vs. Stanford -- he's thrown 98 consecutive passes without a pick. He completed 60 of those passes for 786 yards (8.02 yards per attempt) with six touchdowns.

“He really doesn’t have a ceiling, to be honest,” said senior center Jake Brendel, in the report.

UCLA's upcoming opponent, Oregon State, has a conference-worst 66.4% completion percentage. Rosen has a 61.0% completion percentage through eight games.
