K-State running back Dalvin Warmack has his confidence back
.A season ago, Kansas State running back Dalvin Warmack didn't play.
A top recruit coming out of Blue Springs, Mo., High, Warmack didn't play despite the fact there was a spot open at running back.
It was so bad for Warmack he considered leaving the team.
“At one point, yes, I did think about leaving, but I’m glad I made the decision to stay,” Warmack said, crediting his mother, Amy Hales-Warmack, for clearing his mind.
“She’s a big influence in my life,” he said to the Topeka Capital-Journal. “She’s my biggest critic and also my biggest fan. She told me that I committed to this school and signed that paper so you owe it to them to stick it out and follow through with the plan. She said things aren’t always going to go your way, but you have to keep pushing through.
“Coming here from being ‘the guy’ in Kansas City and then redshirting here last year, I had to get my confidence back. That two weeks I had back home to think about everything, I got my confidence back and I’m ready to rock.”
Now, Warmack has a lot of confidence back, two seasons removed from rushing for 2,223 yards as a senior.
“Dalvin has had a really good fall camp,” Dana Dimel, co-offensive coordinator, said to the Topeka Capital-Journal. “We’re doing better at finding out what his skill set is and how to get him the ball in those situations. Dalvin has some things he can do very well that we can utilize. People didn’t see a lot out of him in the spring but he’s coming along pretty good.”
