With Florida’s incredible four-down goal line stand at Tiger Stadium, the Gators hung on to a hard-fought 16-10 victory over LSU. The win gives Florida its second consecutive SEC East crown and a return trip to Atlanta.

For Kentucky fans, Florida’s win should take a bit of the sting, albeit very little, from the consecutive SEC losses the Cats suffered to Georgia and Tennessee. For all the talk of Kentucky’s inability to get the required wins, when opportunity seemingly presented itself, in the end the Gators won the East outright and maintains its hold as the division’s top team.

With Kentucky’s consecutive losses, and Tennessee’s wins over Kentucky and Florida, the Vols had worked their way back into SEC East contention. But Florida dug deep when it mattered most, holding LSU running back Derrius Guice on fourth and goal from the one as time expired to hold onto the win.

Florida’s win over LSU marks only the third SEC East victory over an SEC West team this season, joining Georgia’s upset win over Auburn and Kentucky’s last-second win over Mississippi State in Commonwealth Stadium.
