Bad new out of Chicago today, as the Associated Press recently reported that former Kentucky Wildcat standout and Chicago Bear Danny Trevathan will miss the remainder of the season with a ruptured right patellar tendon. This is the second season-ending knee injury Trevathan has suffered in his professional career, the first coming two seasons ago in Denver, to the opposite knee.

Trevathan currently is second on the Bears in tackles for the season, with the loss being a tough one for a Chicago defense that marked the former UK standout as one of its biggest off-season acquisitions through free agency.

Before signing with Chicago, Trevathan spent the first four seasons in Denver, where he helped spearhead one of the league’s top defenses on the way to a Super Bowl title in 2016. Trevathan has twice (2015, 2013) recorded more than 100 tackles in a season, credited with 129 stops three seasons ago.

Trevathan was the first linebacker in University of Kentucky history to be named first-team All-American, and was also a All-SEC selection in 2010. As a junior in 2010, Trevathan led the SEC in tackles (144), averaging more than 11 tackles per game.
