Kentucky Football: Season On The Line Against Vanderbilt
The Kentucky football program is desperate for a win against the Vanderbilt Commodores. The season will be on the line in Week 6.
The Kentucky football team is 2-3 with a dream that’s drifting more towards slipping away than being realized. With seven games remaining on the schedule, the Wildcats need to win at least four games to play in a bowl game.
That pursuit of four victories will begin in Week 6 when Kentucky hosts the Vanderbilt Commodores at Commonwealth Stadium.
Kentucky has endured some painful twists during the 2016 college football season. It blew a 35-10 lead over the Southern Miss Golden Eagles in Week 1 and had the Alabama Crimson Tide tied at 3-3 after the first quarter of a 35-6 loss.
Fortunately, that 35-6 loss consisted of a number of moral victories.

Moral victories can be found, but Kentucky needs a real win against Vanderbilt.
Fortunately, Mark Stoops and company will have an opportunity for redemption during Week 6. The Commodores of Vanderbilt are 2-3, just like Kentucky, and have struggled to generate offense in 2016.
In many ways, Kentucky and Vanderbilt are comparable teams in a similar position.
The advantage that Kentucky has can be found in that very word: it has the home field advantage. Thus, with both players in desperate need of a win to keep their bowl game hopes strong, the Wildcats hold an invaluable edge.
That only adds to the desperate need to emerge victorious.
Stephen Johnson will make his third consecutive start, and he’ll have some help in doing so. Boom Williams, Benny Snell Jr., and Jojo Kemp have all looked good at points of the 2016 season, and the playmakers at wide receiver have proven capable.
Perhaps most importantly, Dorian Baker will be active against Vanderbilt.
Against a Vanderbilt team that’s struggled to put points on the board, Kentucky can win if it gets some easy points.
Fortunately for Kentucky, it has an exceptionally talented secondary, including Chris Westry, Derrick Baity, and J.D. Harmon. It also has a talented front seven, including Jordan Jones, Courtney Love, and Denzil Ware.
The question is: will the offense and defense show up in this must-win outing?
If it does, then Kentucky can move to 3-3 and be just three wins away from a bowl game.
