Kentucky senior cornerback J.D. Harmon penned an emotional, heart-felt farewell to the Commonwealth faithful and Big Blue Nation following the Cats’ win over Austin Peay on Senior Day. See the poem posted to his Twitter account here. The thoughtful and introspective goodbye captures the struggle and eventual accomplishment of a senior class that weathered many storms before becoming competitive this season, including going 4-4 in SEC play, and becoming bowl eligible.
Dear commowealth it seems that we’ve reached our end

I have memories back to 2012 where we became the best of friends
Since then I’ve watched you grow and you watched me do the same
You never left my side no matter the outcome of every home game
You stood firm and cheered me on with some of the greatest fans
You played music during breaks that always made me dance
Every time I hit the ground you made sure I got back on my feet
Whispering get up you got this at times when I felt weak
We’ve had our ups and downs and certainly had a lot of fights
But that’s just us being us on those caturday nights
You shine your lights so bright which gave me the clearest vision
You roared loud it gave me strength to carry out my mission
We started out on rocky road but we
fought our way through
Since I first laid eyes on your beauty I began to bleed blue
The love the BBN has words can’t come close to describe
It’s been a long journey but I’ve loved every minute of this ride
I’ll never forget the good times we’ve had or memories we’ve made
I’ll always love you Commonwealth so for now farewell to a later day.
-J.D. Harmon
Well said J.D., well said. I think everyone in BBN will appreciate those words, and the effort and sacrifice of this senior class. Here’s hoping you go out with a couple more wins. Regardless, you’re already winners.
