Kyle Allen primed to make a run at the Heisman in 2015?

The Aggies' sophomore signal caller has only started five games in his A&M career but expectations will be high for Kyle Allen heading into the season.

While the team hasn't even named him the starter, incoming five-star quarterback Kyler Murray will be given his chance to earn the job in fall camp, the Heisman talk has already begun for Allen.

After initially struggling in his first game against Louisiana-Monroe, Allen started to find his groove throwing for 514 yards and seven touchdowns against Auburn and Missouri in his next two games. Allen then put on a show and was named MVP of the bowl game against West Virginia after throwing for 294 yards and four touchdowns against the Mountaineers.

Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin was recently quoted by Bleacher Report regarding Allen: "He goes through the middle of the year and gets to be the starter the last four or five games and has a good game at Auburn and gets to be the MVP of the bowl game, and he's a confident kid coming off of that."

Now that Allen has proven he can play and lead the Aggies to victory on the field, the next step in his maturation will be his leadership abilities.

"We've talked about him becoming a better leader, No. 1," Sumlin said. "No. 2, increasing his football awareness and making him a student of the game. Since he was really he only scholarship quarterback during the spring, he got a lot of reps. The leadership role really came to the forefront, because he was the guy. I think he's got confidence right now."

With arguably the nation's best receiving corp to throw to and an offensive line that annually sends players to the NFL, the talent is in place for Allen to reach new heights for A&M quarterbacks since joining the SEC.

Now all he has to do is hold onto the job.
