Latest Update: Florida-LSU Game Still On Schedule

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Despite Hurricane Matthew, the Florida-LSU game is STILL on schedule for this Saturday at noon inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

The University of Florida announced late Wednesday that there is NO change in the status of the LSU game this weekend.

We are working closely with local, state and University officials as well as the Southeastern Conference office to monitor the progress of Hurricane Matthew and its potential impact on campus and the safety of the fans.

As of 5 p.m. on Wednesday, the game is still scheduled to be played on Saturday at noon at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. A final decision on the start time of the game will be made by 1 p.m. on Thursday as we continue to monitor the storm.

There was some talk about possibly moving the game to Baton Rouge, but UF said “the game will not be moved out of Gainesville.”

This isn’t the first time that weather has played a role in affecting a Florida football game. Back in 2014, Florida’s season opener against Idaho was canceled due to inclement weather.

Another uncertainty for the Gators is whether quarterback Luke Del Rio will play on Saturday.

Del Rio is still recovering from an MCL injury he sustained in the third game of the season against North Texas. A final decision on his status should come on Thursday.
