Lauderdale contributes to explosive offense

Published Sep. 9, 2015 10:44 p.m. ET

Texas Tech junior wide out Devin Lauderdale set personal career highs in pretty much every category on Saturday, when the Red Raiders offense exploded for 59 points.

For Tech to continue on that trend against better defenses than Sam Houston State. Lauderdale will have to do much of the same.

“I go in every game confident,” he said. “You just have to do what you have to do and the game plan will fall around you.”

Lauderdale totaled eight receptions and 150 yards in Week 1.

Kliff Kingsbury and offensive coordinator Eric Morris plucked Lauderdale out of junior college, and the scheme fit seems to be going very well.

“Coach Morris came to my school and told me what he and coach Kingsbury saw in me,” Lauderdale said. “They told me what kind of receiver I could be and said I could be a star receiver in this offense.”
