Leonard Floyd discusses the possibility of leaving for the NFL Draft

Published Nov. 23, 2015 9:13 p.m. ET

As another season in Athens comes to a close, redshirt junior linebacker Leonard Floyd has another tough decision to make. Will he turn pro, as he was expected to do following 2014, or will he return for another season with the Bulldogs?

Floyd discussed the topic Monday, but appears to have yet to make up his mind at this point.

“I’m gonna definitely talk to what I call my circle, which is my people that I trust the most,” Floyd said. “I plan on talking to them probably after the Tech game. Probably that following week we’ll start making my decision.”

While Floyd is yet again a top defensive prospect for the NFL Draft, the opportunity to play for a championship at Georgia is something that weighs heavily on his mind.

“That’s the only reason that people consider coming back,” Floyd said.

It's unlikely Floyd could improve his stock in a new defensive system, so his fate may be tied to defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt. Despite a successful season on the defensive side of the ball, speculation of staff friction may cause Pruitt's time in Athens to be nearing an end as well.
