Longhorns open as double-digit underdogs to TCU and Baylor
If there is belief out there in the 2015 Texas Longhorns, it isn't coming from Las Vegas.
The Golden Nugget sportsbook released point spreads and they weren't kind to Charlie Strong's bunch. Texas is a heavy underdog against both 2014 Big 12 co-champs. TCU opened as a 21-point favorite over Texas, and Baylor opened as an 18-point favorite.
My, how times have changed.
But, who can blame Vegas? The Horned Frogs, who bring back their explosive offense virtually intact, drilled the Horns last season in Austin, 48-10. The Bears found Texas' defense rather stingy, but still took home a 28-7 win.
As for TCU, it's favored by double-digits in six games, including by 18 points in the season-opener at Minnesota. The Frogs opened as a six-point favorite over Baylor, a game that will be played in late November.
Texas is only a 7.5-point underdog for its Sept. 5 opener at Notre Dame, which might say something about what Vegas thinks of the Irish's chances this season.
