Louisville Basketball: Will Montrezl Harrell make the Rockets' roster?
Former Louisville basketball player Montrezl Harrell has another solid game for the Rockets’ in their win this morning over the Pelicans.
Current Houston Rocket and former Louisville basketball Montrezl Harrell had his best game of the NBA preseason earlier this morning in a 116-104 win over the New Orleans Pelicans. He needs to do everything he can this preseason to prove he is worthy of a roster spot, as Harrell spent most of his first NBA season in the D-league.
Harrell played a significant role in the Rockets’ win today, which should give Houston’s coaching staff some confidence about his abilities moving forward. There were many back-ups that received a solid amount of playing time today, but Harrell looked like the best power-forward on the Rockets’ roster this afternoon.
According to ESPN, Harrell played 24 minutes, had 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 blocks, and 11 points for the Houston Rockets. He played double the amount of minutes that the Rockets’ have given him this October and the coaching staff should be very pleased with his production today.

Obviously, there are many varying factors that go into whether a player makes an NBA roster, but things are looking really positive right now for Harrell. As long as he can keep his cool in practice and in games, he could become one of the more impactful power-forwards in the NBA.
I’m not saying he is going to an an All-Star anytime soon, but he could have a breakout year coming for Houston.
