Louisville Football Alumni: How did former Cards play on Sunday?
We take a look at how each former Louisville football player performed for their teams in the NFL on Sunday afternoon.
The weekend could not have gone any better for Louisville football fans. Okay, I lied, Ohio State and Washington could have lost, but we they could still lose before the season is all said and done.
It was very refreshing to see Lamar Jackson and the Louisville offense do whatever they wanted against one of the best defenses in the country. Everyone was waiting to see how the Cards would respond and they overachieved this weekend.
Just like the college team, there is a ton of expectation on the shoulders of every former Louisville football player in the NFL right now. Each player we write about every week, has huge responsibilities on their teams that requires them to be at their best week in and week out.
Players like DeVante Parker and Eli Rogers are two receivers that have the ability to be play-makers for the Dolphins and Steelers. While they haven’t been as good as we had hoped this season, there is still a lot of football left to be played.
There were many other former Cardinals in action on Sunday, check out how they did on Sunday in the following slides.

William Gay and Elvis Dumervil did not get the chance to face off in this important AFC North Showdown on Sunday afternoon as they are both dealing with injuries. However, Eli Rogers picked up the slack and had the best game of his NFL career.
Rogers has six catches for 103 yards in the Steelers loss to the Baltimore Ravens. It was great to finally see the production out of him that everyone has been waiting for. Injuries have kept him sidelined for a few weeks, but it seems like he is feeling fine now.
With this loss, the Steelers are now 4-4 at the halfway point of the season. They are going to meed Rogers to be at his best if they want to make the playoffs this season.

There isn’t one positive thing that I could say about the Cleveland Browns this season. After losing to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, they are now 0-9 in the 2016 NFL season and things are not getting any better.
Barnidge had a breakout season in 2015, but he isn’t going to be any close to that production this year. He only has 3 receptions for 23 yards on Sunday, which was his worst game of the entire season.
The Browns have so many issues on their team that it’s very hard to focus on just one. However, they need to draft a quarterback in this coming draft, or Gary Barnidge may struggle to have another 1,000 yard season in his NFL career.

This was one heck of a game to watch between the two AFC East rival, unfortunately the former Cardinals playing in this game had little contribution.
Powell and Parker both had very disappointing days offensively, as Parker had 2 catches for 8 yards and Powell had 6 carries for 22 yards. It was a day to forget for both former Louisville football players.
Lorenzo Mauldin actually had the best day of all of the former Cards. He had 3 tackles, 0.5 sacks, and 3 quarterback hits. It’s very clear that Mauldin is playing much better in the 3-4 system they switched back to a few weeks ago.
Look for him to continue finding ways to affect the QB off the edge.

The New Orleans Saints’ first round draft pick Sheldon Rankins played in his first NFL game on Sunday afternoon against the 49ers. It was great to see Rankins finally get into action because he broke his fibula at the end of the preseason.
His impact on a terrible Saints’ defense is going to be huge. He had one tackle and one quarterback hit today, but his statistical production should go up as the season progresses.
Either way, he will be the an X-factor for the rest of the season for the Saints and we should see him getting more pressure on the quarterback.
Don’t be surprised to see New Orleans’ defense improve as Rankins improves this year.
