Louisville Football: Could Lamar Jackson have his best game of the season against Virginia?

Louisville football heads down to Virginia on Saturday to play the Cavaliers, therefore we take a look at Lamar Jackson’s potentially huge day.

There is no secret that the Louisville football team and Lamar Jackson are on a serious roll right now. The Cards have moved back up to number five in the country and are heading down to play Virginia on Saturday, which presents a great opportunity to blow out another opponent.

Virginia is the worst defense in the ACC and it’s not going to be pretty. The last time Louisville played a defense this bad was Syracuse back in week two. I think we all remember what Lamar Jackson did to that defense up in the Carrier Dome.

Therefore, this leaves us with an interesting scenario: With Lamar Jackson already far ahead in the Heisman race, will this game against the Cavaliers be hie best performance of the season?

Here is was ESPN’s David Hale had to say about this weekend’s game:

“What happens when you put the Heisman front-runner up against a defense ranked 111th in yards per pass and 100th in scoring? We’ll find out when Jackson and Louisville head to Virginia on Saturday. Jackson has 34 touchdowns already this season, the most by an FBS quarterback through seven games. He figures to add to those numbers against a Cavaliers’ defense that has surrendered at least 35 points in five of seven games this year.”

Let’s be clear about one thing, Lamar Jackson would have even more incredible numbers if Bobby Petrino didn’t wisely take him out of the game during blow-outs.

The Cavaliers are the worst ranked defense against the run in the ACC, which sets Louisville’s offense up for a huge day. Not only are they bad against the run, but they are second to last in the conference in passing defense as well.

I expect Lamar Jackson and the Cardinals to more than cover the spread in this game. It will get ugly and it will get ugly quick. Louisville should beat Virginia by well over 32 points in this game on the road.

This will be the first time that Virginia will face Lamar Jackson, which gives them a huge disadvantage. He had one rush for 45 yards in last year’s game, but Kyle Bolin started and finished the game for Louisville.

If the Cavaliers gave up one run of 45 yards to Jackson last season, then 2016 Lamar Jackson will give them major problems. Look for Lamar Jackson to have one of his best statistical games of the season.
