Louisville Football: Eli Rogers Becomes The Hero For Steelers in Week 15
We take a look at former Louisville football player Eli Rogers’ big day for the Pittsburgh Steelers that kept them in the division lead.
Here we are again, another week of talking about a former Louisville football player making the game-winning catch for his team. The Steelers had a huge game in Cincinnati on Sunday, which was a game that they needed to win if they wanted to keep the division lead with only two weeks left before the playoffs.
We talked about how important this game would also be for Eli Rogers, since the Bengals would likely use their coverage to take Steelers’ top receiver Antonio Brown out of the game.
It turns out that we were spot on, as Rogers was the leading receiver for Pittsburgh on Sunday with 5 receptions for 75 yards and the game-winning touchdown with 7 minutes left in the game.
There literally could not have been a better thing happen for Rogers this weekend. The Bengals and Steelers rivalry has been heated for a long, long time and catching the game-winner will not only sit well with the fans, but also with the Steelers’ coaching staff.
Not to mention, this type of clutch performance will give Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger more confidence in Rogers over the final course of this season, which will hopefully include the playoffs.
Pittsburgh can win their division and clinch a playoff spot with a win over the Baltimore Ravens next weekend. Don’t be surprised when Rogers comes up big for the Steelers again.
