Louisville Football: Why Boston College could beat Clemson Friday night
Boston College could really help out the Louisville football team if they beat Clemson on Friday. We take a look at how that could even be possible.
If Boston College could beat Clemson on Friday night, then everyone around the Louisville football program is going to rejoice since Clemson still has to play Florida State. Louisville needs Clemson to lose a minimum of two games before the season is over, if they want to play in the ACC Championship game in December.
It may seem like a long-shot that the unranked Eagles could take down the third ranked team in the country. However, it may not be as long of a shot as you may think.
Is it because they are playing at home? Perhaps. Is it because they have one of the nation’s best defenses? Well, that’s what Boston College head coach Steve Addazio thinks of his squad.

Matt Forunta of ESPN posted an article earlier today about Boston College’s defense and these are the best quotes from the article:
“With that in mind, perhaps it shouldn’t be a surprise that BC boasts the nation’s No. 1 defense despite losing four starters — including two draft picks — and four assistants off a unit that was the nation’s best a year ago. Whether that’s enough to give the Eagles more than a fighting chance when No. 3 Clemson comes to town Friday remains to be seen, but Addazio likes what he has seen from the unit through its ups and downs so far”
“If you can play great defense then you’re going to be in the middle of every game and it gives you a chance,” Addazio said. “Our issue is if we get behind early too much then it gets to be a difficult mountain for us. But at home, we have a good defense obviously, our offense is really maturing, we’re starting to come along — very young, but you can see the signs now of a more balanced approach.” – Steve Addazio
Who knows, maybe the Eagles with surprise everyone and shock the college football world on Friday night? It is going to take one heck of an effort from their defense to shut down Deshaun Watson.
If Louisville’s defense couldn’t do it, I have a hard time believing that Boston College’s defense can get it done. However, hopefully for Louisville’s sake, they can play better than the Cards did last Saturday night.
