Louisville freshman Samuel returns kick 100 yards for TD
With No. 11 Clemson slowly pulling away in its 20-17 win at Louisville in the ACC opener for both schools Thursday night, the host Cardinals received a big momentum boost from one of their smallest players.
The Tigers pulled ahead 20-10 with 9:57 left in the fourth quarter on Greg Huegel's 27-yard field goal. With the momentum shifting in favor of Clemson, Traveon Samuel, the Cardinals' 5-foot-7, 175-pound freshman wide receiver, brought it back to the Louisville sideline as he returned the ensuing kickoff 100 yards to cut the deficit to 20-17.
Samuel sprinted through the Tigers defense and down the right sideline, just ahead of a Clemson defender as he crossed the goal line.
The kick return would not be enough for Louisville, which fell to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the ACC. Clemson improved to 3-0 and 1-0.
Can Louisville upset No. 11 Clemson? Traveon Samuel is trying to make that happen with 100-yard kick return for TD. http://t.co/yaNtrs5ISr
