Louisville's Scott guarantees win over Auburn in opener
As if Auburn needed any more motivation for its much-anticipated season opener, Louisville running back L.J. Scott provided it Monday in the form of a victory guarantee.
The Tigers and Cardinals meet Saturday at the Georgia Dome in one of the bigger games of Week 1, and Scott told the media at a press conference that Louisville, despite being a double-digit underdog, will make a statement by taking down an Auburn team that some have ranked as one of the best in the country.
"We're excited about it, because this isn't one of those games that we put on our schedule just to say that we were in it," Scott told the media. "This isn't something that we want to come back from Atlanta saying, 'We got to play in the Georgia Dome against Auburn.' No, this is something that we truly believe we can win -- and we're going to go out there and win."
Scott, a sophomore and 229-pound power back, is expected to serve primarily in a backup role this year for Louisville. But expect Auburn's defense to be well aware of his whereabouts any time he is on the field Saturday.
