LSU Football: Tigers land Texas Tech WR transfer, Jonathan Giles
LSU football has landed one of the top transfers on the market, Texas Tech wide receiver Jonathan Giles.
The tides are turning in Baton Rouge, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. With a new head coach leading the way and the recruiting side of things excelling, LSU football is looking up. Add Jonathan Giles to the mix and you have one of the most intriguing programs in the country.
On Monday, the former Texas Tech wide receiver announced his decision to transfer to LSU over programs like Florida State and Oregon.

About a week earlier, he released a list of top 10 schools, shortly after that, he trimmed it to three and then he made the ultimate decision on Monday. The whole process didn't last nearly as long as he expected, initially stating that he would decide by mid-June.
The decision comes as a bit of a surprise, as does the initial transfer. He has called Texas Tech his dream school and always knew that's where he wanted to be. However, he made the choice to explore his options and will now be headed to the SEC.
Going from Patrick Mahomes to the questionable quarterback situation at LSU won't be the easiest of transitions, though. Fortunately, the Tigers might have the quarterback position solidified by the time Giles is eligible in 2018 — he will have to sit out all of 2017, per NCAA transfer rules.
Giles will instantly provide some punch on the offensive side of the ball for LSU. He finished his sophomore season in 2016 with 69 catches for 1,158 yards and 13 touchdowns. The Tigers just got a good one.
